Abstract

The Department of Labor is currently reviewing the rules under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) applicable to the disclosure of plan administrative and investmentrelated fee and expense information to participants and beneficiaries in participant-directed individual account plans (e.g., 401(k) plans). The purpose of this review is to determine to what extent rules should be adopted or modified, or other actions should be taken, to ensure that participants and beneficiaries have the information they need to make informed decisions about the management of their individual accounts and the investment of their retirement savings. The purpose of this notice is to solicit views, suggestions and comments from plan participants, plan sponsors, plan service providers and members of the financial community, as well as the general public, on this important issue.
