EPA has spent an inordinate amount of time and treasure re-examining atrazine. It is now in at least its sixth review process at the agency, with no new scientific data to justify a ban. The material submitted by the petitioners amounts to a collection of photographs of demonstrators, quotes, and signed petitions - no scientific information is presented to justify their proposed action. If there ever was a situation where EPA could say "been there, done that", it's atrazine. Accepting the petition would lead to further wasted and duplicative effort in an era where government needs to be particularly cost-conscious. The proper course is to deny the petition, so agency resources can be used in more productive ways.
