Abstract
This rulemaking is to ensure customers experiencing significant flight disruptions are taken care of and protected from financial loss. Specifically, this rulemaking would examine requiring U.S. and foreign air carriers to adopt and adhere to customer service plans identifying essential services (meals, rebooking, lodging, transportation to or from lodging, timely customer service) and compensation which airlines would be required provide to mitigate passenger inconveniences from cancellations and lengthy delays on flights to, within and from the United States. The rulemaking would also examine how best to ensure passenger awareness of the services and compensation that would be available to them.
