Airbus Model Numbers A319-131, 132, 133; A320-231, 232, 233; A321-131, 231 Series Airplanes

FAA has issued and requested comments on AD 2004-15-14, effective August 13, 2004. This rule is for certain Airbus A319; A320 and A321 series airplanes. This AD requires revising the airplane flight manual (AFM) to advise the flightcrew of procedures associated with the intermittent interruption of the electrical power. Under certain conditions, this AD also requires inspecting for signs of arcing and performing any necessary corrective actions. ATA appreciates the opportunity to comment on this proposed rule and requests FAA to accept this late submission. Our members generally support the intent of the rulemaking; however, additional review and clarification would be desirable on the attached comment. Specifically: ¿Terminating Action ¿ Consideration should be given for an option similar to other Airbus models that consists of a one-piece harness that eliminates the firewall connector that would provide terminating action for the AD. ¿Inspection Method Approval ¿ The appropriate references for inspection methods should be included in future AD¿s of this type.
