What Air Transport Association filed (1)

Oct 7, 2004· FAA-2004-19023-0008

The FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Airbus Model A318, A319, A320, and A321 series airplanes. This proposed AD would require removing two maintenance lights in the hydraulics bay, disconnecting the wiring for the lights, and modifying the switches. ATA appreciates the opportunity to comment on this proposed rule. Our members generally support the intent of the rulemaking; however, additional review and clarification would be desirable on the attached comments. Specifically: ¿Terminating Action ¿ Consideration should be given to the availability of a final solution which includes a replacement explosion proof lighting system. ¿Deactivation ¿ Consideration should be given to deactivating the power to the present maintenance lights by modification of the switch wiring only. Your serious consideration of these observations and comments would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Robert Peel Director of Quality Air Transport Association
