Boeing Model 737-300, -400, and -500 Series Airplanes

Ladies/Gentlemen: FAA proposes to supersede an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for all Boeing 737-300, -400, and -500 series airplanes. The existing AD currently requires repetitive inspections of certain connectors located in the main wheel well to detect discrepancies, and corrective action if necessary. This proposed AD would instead mandate a modification. ATA appreciates the opportunity to comment on this proposed rule. Our members generally support the intent of the rulemaking; however, additional review and clarification would be desirable on the attached comments. Specifically: ¿Referenced Boeing S/B 737-28-1196 Revision 3, April 1, 2004 ¿ Accomplishment instructions, (including the operational tests) took approximately 15 man-hours, or 10 elapsed hours per airplane.
