Boeing Model 737 Airplanes

FAA proposes to adopt a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Boeing 737 airplanes. This proposed AD would require, for certain airplanes, a one-time detailed inspection for interference between a clamp assembly and the wires behind the P15 refuel panel, and corrective actions if necessary. For certain other airplanes, this proposed AD would require a one-time detailed inspection for discrepancies of the wires behind the P15 refuel panel; and corrective and related investigative actions if necessary. ATA appreciates the opportunity to comment on this proposed rule. Our members generally support the intent of the rulemaking; however, additional review and clarification would be desirable on the attached comments. Specifically: ¿Information Notices (IN's) ¿ Referenced Service Bulletin refer to IN's that provide interchangeable part number information and make minor clarifications and revisions to materials and part numbers. The subject IN's should be specified in the final rule to allow operators to take advantage of these changes without seeking alternate methods of compliance. ¿Visual Check ¿ Clarification is requested of inspections accomplished using the "visual check". ¿Referenced Boeing S/B 737-28-1193, April 24, 2003 - The accomplishment instructions, (including the operational tests) took approximately 6 man-hours, or 3 elapsed hours per airplane. ¿Referenced Boeing S/B 737-28-1200, July 10, 2003 - The accomplishment instructions (including the operational tests) took approximately 6 man-hours, or 3 elapsed hours per airplane.
