ATAC hereby respectfully submits its comments regarding the proposed Secure Flight Program. The attached document outlines our perspective, which is aimed at manifestly improving the broad goals of the program through a more comprehensive and detailed set of further consultations with carriers and implicated foreign governments in order to ensure the success of the program.

Attached is a request of the Air Transport Association of America to extend the comment period in the Secure Flight rulemaking proceeding.
On behalf of IATA Member Carriers operating flights to the United States, I would like to request that the deadline for filing comments in this rulemaking be extended from October 22, 2007 until January 21, 2008. The complexity and scope of this document require careful consideration by stakeholders and the current comment period does not offer sufficient time to do so. Such an extension would allow carriers to continue a thoughtful and deliberative review and result in the TSA receiving a substantial industry cross section of insightful and useful comments.
