The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) appreciates the opportunity to provide comments on the final rule titled “Medicare Program; Revisions to Payment Policies Under the Physician Fee Schedule, Clinical Laboratory Fee Schedule, Access to Identifiable Data for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation Models & Other Revisions to Part B for CY 2015,” published in the November 13, 2014 Federal Register. Although very few pediatric services are included in the Medicare program, payment policies introduced in Medicare are frequently adopted by state Medicaid/CHIP programs and eventually by private payers. The Academy appreciates the opportunity to provide comments on the November 13th final rule and looks forward to working with CMS to ensure that the physician fee schedule accurately reflects the work value of physician practice and pediatric care. Abstract

This major proposed rule addresses changes to the physician fee schedule, and other Medicare Part B payment policies to ensure that our payment systems are updated to reflect changes in medical practice and the relative value of services, as well as changes in the statute. See the Table of Contents for a listing of the specific issues addressed in this proposed rule.
