On behalf of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) - the national trade association of the apparel, footwear, and accessories industries, and their suppliers - I am requesting to testify at the January 30 GSP Country Practice Review Hearing, specifically on the country reviews for Indonesia and Thailand. The purpose of our testimony is not to argue the relative merits of the petitions on Indonesia and Thailand, although we have seen and applaud the great progress made in each review. Instead, our testimony will show how GSP benefits for U.S. travel goods imports from Indonesia and Thailand have benefitted American businesses, American workers, and American consumers. We will urge the administration to keep these points in mind when it decides whether to restrict or remove GSP benefits from each country.
