Please find attached the comments of the American Chemistry Council on EPA's comment requests on the role of economy-wide modeling in EPA analysis of air regulations. Lorraine Gershman, Director
EPA is establishing a new Science Advisory Board (SAB) panel of economic experts with experience in economy-wide modeling to make recommendations to the agency on the technical merits, technical challenges, and potential value added of using economy-wide models to evaluate costs, benefits, and economic impacts in a regulatory setting, and to identify potential paths forward for improvements that could address such challenges. To focus the panel’s efforts, EPA will consider the use of economy-wide modeling frameworks in the context of air regulations. As a first step, EPA is posting draft charge questions and an analytic blueprint that outlines the materials EPA could supply to the panel to inform their deliberations for public comment.
