Longitudinal Field Measurement Study of Infant and Toddler's Aggregate Exposure to Pesticides and Persistent Pollutants

Some concerns regarding this study: - The funding is coming from the American Chemistry Council. What role will the American Chemistry Council play in responding to this study once it is complete? I want to be sure that the chemical industry will not affect the study during or after it begins. To put it another way; is the American Chemistry Council playing any kind of role beyond providing funding for the study? Please remember that you're doing this study for me, Joe Public, not for them. - You're only accepting 60 applicant families in a largely impoverished county. People may be inclined to "become" a viable applicant by increasing or otherwise changing their chemical usage in order to "win the prize" you offer as compensation. What will you do to mitigate this inevitability, as i see this as very likely? - There was no mention of a control group in the information i read on this study at www.epa.gov/Cheers/basic.htm. Please be sure that you include families who use only organic household products and pesticides! - I am concerned that this will be the only study of it's kind. What assurance does the public have that this study is not the last of it's kind? There are many areas of the country with increased exposure to chemical and radioactive compounds. Does the EPA have a published list of possible follow-up sites for future studies somewhere? Will other areas be studied regardless of the result of this study? - Because we the public tend to have short memories regarding longitudinal studies, what assurance do we have that the EPA will notify us of the results, regardless of what they may be?
