Dear Administrator Carlson, The American Chemistry Council (ACC), acting on behalf of its Plastics Division, is pleased to provide the following comments to NHTSA's (the Agency) regarding the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) for "Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards: Automatic Emergency Braking Systems for Light Vehicles". In particular, while automatic emergency braking (AEB) addresses a wide variety of frontal impacts scenarios, our comments address those impacts involving pedestrian protection.
