Abstract

Tommy P. Beaudreau, Acting Assistant Secretary, Land and Mineral Management, U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI), with the Bureau of Safety & Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), is seeking public comments to support our efforts to enhance rules for oil and gas exploration, development and production in the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). The Department of Interior (DOI) is in the process of improving specific standards to ensure that oil and gas operations on the Alaska Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) are conducted safely and responsibly. The Bureau of Safety Environment and Enforcement (BSEE) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) are working jointly on this rulemaking. At the beginning of this rulemaking process, we are engaging interested parties and stakeholders to discuss the scope and objectives of this effort.
