The comments of the American Petroleum Institute (API), National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA), Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA), U.S. Oil and Gas Association (USOGA), International Association Of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) and the Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA) are attached.
We Support Alternative A for proposed lease sales in the Eastern, Central and Western Gulf of Mexico and the Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea and Cook Inlet in Alaska. We are strongly opposed to alternatives B and C for the proposed 5-year Program. the analysis in the DPEIS (Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement) does not support the adoption of such restrictive alternatives. Adoption of Alternative A is fully consistent with the agency's analysis.
Of the three proposed actions, we support Alternative A for proposed leased sales in the Eastern, Central and Western Gulf of Mexico and the Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea and Cook Inlet in Alaska. We are strongly opposed to Alternatives B and C for the proposed 5-year Program. The analysis in the DPEIS does not support the adoption of such restrictive alternatives. Adoption of Alternative A is fully consistent with the agency's analysis. A forward looking US energy policy must continue to include opportunities to explore and develop offshore resources and projects in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico should not be further reduced. The production of US oil and natural gas greatly improves US energy security.
