We are glad to see that USDA has acknowledged that its standards for animal care are outdated and appreciate that it has asked for information on which to base revisions. This is a significant undertaking as it covers many aspects of care of dogs, and 30 days is not a sufficient amount of time to review the literature and comment on how the most recent scientific findings should inform new standards, so I ask that USDA extend the comment period until April 19, 2026. Thank you.
