Abstract
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) uses the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5) to collect occurrence data from public water systems for contaminants suspected to be present in drinking water, but that do not have health-based standards set under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). UCMR 5 provides the EPA and other interested parties with scientifically valid data on the occurrence of selected contaminants in drinking water. This data set is one of the primary sources of nationally representative occurrence data used to guide Agency decisions about emerging contaminants in the public drinking water supply.
