The Center for Biological Diversity is attaching a comment letter expressing our opposition to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) proposed approval of Louisiana's Application for primary enforcement authority over the Class VI Underground Injection Control (UIC) Well Program.

Abstract

This docket will serve as the repository for rulemaking documents related to the proposed approval of the State of Louisiana's Underground Injection Control Class VI Program Primacy application under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) section 1422. This program revision would allow Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to issue UIC permits for geologic carbon sequestration facilities as Class VI wells and ensure compliance of Class VI wells under the UIC program. The EPA proposes to issue a final rule, approving the application from Louisiana under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to implement an UIC program for Class VI injection wells located within the State, except those on Indian lands.
