Thank you for the opportunity to submit the attached comments "concerning proposed amendments to the CITES Appendices (species proposals) that the United States might submit for consideration at" the 20th Conference of the Parties ("CoP20") to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ("CITES"). These comments are submitted on behalf of the Center for Biological Diversity ("the Center") and our 1.7 million members and supporters. The Center works to secure a future for all imperiled species and their habitats around the globe through science, law, and creative media.
Thank you for the opportunity to submit comments on the United States' priorities for submissions to the 20th Conference of the Parties ("CoP") to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora ("CITES"). These comments are submitted on behalf of the Center for Biological Diversity ("the Center") and include our recommendations for amendments to CITES' appendices as well as for working documents. The Center works to secure a future for all imperiled species and their habitats around the globe through science, law, and creative media, and we have more than 1.7 million members and online activists in the United States and abroad. CITES requires "the protection of certain species of wild fauna and flora against over-exploitation through international trade" and we appreciate your continued dedication to this goal of the Convention.
