See attached file(s); The Center for Biological Diversity submits the attached comment letter to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) on the proposed rule to "implement gear marking requirements and entanglement risk reduction measures for portions of the Pacific coast groundfish fishery." Thank you.

Abstract

This rulemaking proposes gear marking requirements and entanglement risk reduction measures for the non-tribal, commercial non-trawl, Pacific coast groundfish fishery, including a single line allowance for marking bottom-tending longline and pot gears. This rulemaking consists of mandatory requirements and voluntary measures. Specifically, measures proposed in this rule would apply to non-tribal commercial vessels harvesting groundfish with pot and bottom longline gears.
