Notice of Request for Public Comments on Section 232 National Security Investigation of Imports of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Their Parts and Components

U.S. Department of Commerce: The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. EEI members provide safe, reliable electricity to more than 250 million Americans and operate in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The electric power industry supports more than 7 million jobs in communities across the United States, and EEI members are projected to invest more than $1.1 trillion between 2025 and 2029 to make the energy grid stronger, cleaner, and more secure against all hazards, including those presented by unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and the supply chains originating from nations that can threaten U.S. energy security. EEI and our member companies appreciate the opportunity to provide comments in response to the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security's (BIS) Notice of Request for Public Comments on Section 232 National Security Investigation of Imports of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Their Parts and Components. EEI and its members understand that the Notice seeks to, "determine the effects on national security of imports of UAS and their parts and components. " As safety and security are foundational to the electric industry's operations, EEI and its members look forward to engaging with BIS throughout the rulemaking process.
