To Whom It May Concern: Attached are two documents containing the signatures of 51,905 Environmental Defense Fund supporters from across the country who have submitted electronic comments regarding EPA's : Reconsideration of Final Determination of Mid-term Evaluation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standards for Model Year 2022-2025 Light-duty Vehicles; Model Year 2021 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Standard (Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OAR-2015-0827-6325). The comment they each submitted reads: "I am writing today in strong opposition to the EPA and DOT's reconsideration of greenhouse gas pollution standards for cars and passenger trucks for model years 2022 to 2025. Weakening or revoking these Clean Cars Standards will create uncertainty, slow innovation, and hurt U.S. economic leadership. These standards strengthen U.S. energy security, save families money at the gas pump, and keep American car manufacturers and workers competitive. They ensure that people who buy a new car or truck in 2025 would, in total, save more than $1 trillion in fuel costs. They would reduce America's oil consumption by two million barrels per day by 2025--more than we import from any single country other than Canada. And it would eliminate more than a year's worth of U.S. carbon emissions over the life of the program. Auto manufacturers and suppliers are already developing and deploying fuel efficient technologies at a much faster rate, and at a much lower cost, than was forecast in 2012. In fact, as a whole, the auto industry has exceeded the Clean Cars Standards in each of the last four years. Americans deserve a healthier, safer, and cleaner future. Abstract

The model year 2017-2025 rule establishing standards for light-duty vehicle greenhouse gases and corporate average fuel economy established a mid-term evaluation process for model year 2022-2025 greenhouse gas standards. The first step in the mid-term evaluation is a Draft Technical Assessment Report, issued jointly by EPA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the California Air Resources Board, to inform EPA’s determination on the appropriateness of the GHG standards and to inform NHTSA’s rulemaking for the CAFE standards for model years 2022-2025.
