To Whom It May Concern: Attached, please find the signatures of 10,336 EDF supporters from across the country who have submitted comments regarding EPA's Review of the Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards. The comment they each submitted reads: "I am extremely disappointed in EPA's recent decision not to strengthen our health-based National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ground-level ozone pollution in spite of a large body of medical and scientific evidence showing the current level does not adequately protect public health. "Now, more than ever, Americans need to know that the air we breathe isn't risking our health. Tens of millions of us already live in an area with unhealthy levels of ground-level ozone pollution, and EPA's proposal particularly harms vulnerable populations who are more susceptible to air pollution, including children, the elderly, anyone working outdoors, and people with asthma or other heart and lung diseases. EPA's proposal does not provide the legally required margin of safety to protect the health of these Americans. "It is especially jarring that EPA has acknowledged this proposal would disproportionately harm Black communities and low-income communities where there are higher rates of childhood asthma and other chronic diseases, yet still refuses to act. "In the midst of a respiratory health emergency, we need to know that the air we breathe isn't putting our lungs at risk. EPA should not finalize the proposal without strengthening these crucial public health safeguards." Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this submission.
