As ocean conditions change, there is an urgent, long-term need to track, understand, predict, and manage the impacts of such changes on fish, fisheries, and fishing communities. Incorporating climate information into the fishery management process is and must remain the new norm to ensure resilient fisheries. As such, we applaud the agency and the Regional Climate Teams for the progress that has been made thus far to implement the National Climate Science Strategy (NCSS) and the original 2016 regional action plans. More work, however, is needed to further address and make progress towards the objectives of the climate science strategy. EDF offers the attached letter with comments on the draft regional action plans and national actions to implement the NCSS.
