Environmental, public safety, and community organizations submit this letter opposing the recent industry request to extend the public comment period for the Advanced Leak Detection & Repair rulemaking. The signatory organizations urge PHMSA to retain the 30-day comment period regarding the Gas Pipeline Advisory Committee review of the Gas Pipeline Leak Detection and Repair Proposed Rule. The signatory organizations urge PHMSA to finalize, as soon as possible, the proposed protective standards to improve public safety and cut methane pollution from gas pipelines.
