Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act: Reducing Regulatory Burdens & Improving Health Care Choices to Empower Patients (CMS-9928-NC)

We need a universal single payer health care system for everyone like other advanced countries. Health care is needed by everyone and I think is a human right. Health care has been privatized to the degree that the government negotiates for the highest cost of drugs. The Republican proposed plan would compromise our health and redistribute money to the wealthy. We need to make some improvements in the Affordable Care Act.; we don't want any repeal. We don't want the Republican proposed changes to health care, Medicare, Medicaid, or ACA. The Affordable Care Act is working, but needs a public option. Don't sabotage the program; don't repeal it. Please focus on providing comprehensive health care to all. Experts in health care know the answer and we can look to Canada, U.K. and Australia models. The repeal and replace proposed bills are way off base if it is intended to improve health care for the citizens of the USA. These proposed bills provide generous tax relief for the most wealth members of this country, not because they need the tax benefit but because the congress can offer it. The monies they would benefiting from is the monies currently assisting to pay for health care to the poorest. The cost of health care is out of control. Congress should be considering a SINGLE PAYER SYSTEM and a revising of the way PHARMACEUTICAL are priced. USA citizens pay more for drugs developed and manufactured in this country than the people of Europe. As I consider the millions of people who will lose their health care benefits under either of these proposed bills I also consider the many people who will lose their jobs in the healthcare area. A revision of the Health Care Act is needed but not a replacement. Many if not most of the sections of the act are working well. The cost of Medical Insurance and of Drugs are the biggest problem with the ACT.

The proposed replacement for the Affordable Care Act is a serious step backward in achieving universal health care, a right for all citizens of the United States. The biggest damage is going to be caused by the cut in Medicaid--$800 billion in services to 23 million people. A healthy economy depends on healthy workers, so clearly such a cut will cause a downward slide in productivity. Another morally and economically backward element of the proposed legislation is the withdrawal of funding for Planned Parenthood, which provides basic health services to poor women and families. No argument against abortion can justify this decision. Finally, the legislation singles out older, sick adults for huge increases in their healthcare premiums. Who benefits from this everyman for himself mentality are the wealthy, who are already leaving the poor and middle-class hopelessly behind in wealth and privilege.
