I am a US consumer and I care deeply about environmental issues, like carbon emissions. I seek to align my purchasing decisions with my values, which include protecting our environment, but the prevalence of greenwashing makes this difficult. I ask that the FTC's revision of the Green Guides increase the transparency of environmental marketing claims and seek to deter corporate greenwashing. I am co-chair of the League of Women Voters of Chicago's Environmental Action Committee. We are working so hard here in Chicago to help educate people on how to reduce their carbon footprints at home and at work. PLEASE help make this easier. Thank you. Deborah Halpern Chicago, IL

Abstract

Pursuant to its decennial regulatory review schedule, the Federal Trade Commission (‘‘FTC’’ or ‘‘Commission’’) requests public comment on its Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims (‘‘Green Guides’’ or ‘‘Guides’’). The Commission is soliciting comments about the efficiency, costs, benefits, and regulatory impact of the Guides to determine whether to retain, modify, or rescind them. All interested persons are hereby given notice of the opportunity to submit written data, views, and arguments concerning the Guides.
