See attached letter. On behalf of the more than 140,000 members of the National Association of Home Builders of the United States (NAHB), I am pleased to submit comments on the Department of Labors (DOL) Occupational Safety and Health Administrations (OSHA) request for information (RFI) regarding Powered Industrial Trucks (i.e., forklifts) that was published in the Federal Register on March 11, 2019 (Forklift RFI). As an interested stakeholder in this request for information, NAHB is concerned that any changes to the Powered Industrial Trucks Standard could have a significant impact on the residential construction industry (i.e., home building). Specifically, NAHB is concerned that OSHAs Forklift RFI does not acknowledge the distinct differences between rough terrain forklifts used in a construction environment and other forklifts used in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
