The National Association of Manufacturers appreciates the opportunity to comment on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Notice of Proposed Rulemaking ("the Proposal") that, if finalized, would allow the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to issue Underground Injection Control permits for geologic carbon sequestration facilities as Class VI wells.

Abstract

This docket will serve as the repository for rulemaking documents related to the proposed approval of the State of Louisiana's Underground Injection Control Class VI Program Primacy application under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) section 1422. This program revision would allow Louisiana Department of Natural Resources to issue UIC permits for geologic carbon sequestration facilities as Class VI wells and ensure compliance of Class VI wells under the UIC program. The EPA proposes to issue a final rule, approving the application from Louisiana under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) to implement an UIC program for Class VI injection wells located within the State, except those on Indian lands.
