National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) comment letter to Secretary of Health and Human Services in response to Food and Drug Administration notice titled "Food Labeling: Front-of-Package Nutrition Information," FDA-2024-N-2910, RIN 0910-AI80, 90 Fed. Reg. 5426 (January 16, 2025), is attached.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA or we) is proposing to require front-of-package nutrition labels on foods. This action, if finalized, would require the display of a compact informational box containing certain nutrient information on the principal display panel of most foods that must bear a Nutrition Facts label to provide consumers, including those who are busy or have lower nutrition knowledge, with interpretive nutrition information that can help them quickly and easily identify how foods can be part of a healthy diet.
