National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) comment letter of December 30, 2024, to Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States concerning proposed amendments for Federal Rule of Appellate Procedure 29, relating to amicus briefs, is attached.

Abstract

The Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Appellate Rules has proposed amendments to the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure, and requested that the proposals be circulated to the bench, bar, and public for comment. The public comment period opens on August 15, 2024, and closes on February 17, 2025. Please see pages 6-51 of the preliminary draft of proposed amendments for the appellate materials. Any notices posted with the preliminary draft contain public hearing dates and contact information for more details. Hearings may be held virtually, in-person, or in a hybrid format. Details will also be provided on the uscourts.gov calendar at https://www.uscourts.gov/rules-policies/about-rulemaking-process/open-meetings-and-hearings-rules-committee.
