Attached are the comments of the National Mining Association in response to the proposed rule regarding proximity detection systems for continuous mining machines in underground coal mines.
MSHA is requesting information regarding whether the use of proximity detection systems would reduce the risk of accidents where mobile equipment pins, crushes, or strikes miners in underground mines and, if so, how.
