To Whom It May Concern: The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) , National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) , and American Public Power Association (APPA) welcome the opportunity to submit the attached comments on the Federal Aviation Administrations (FAA) Proposed Rule governing the Operation and Certification of Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems . We appreciate greatly FAAs efforts to integrate unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System. Knowing this is just one step in integrating, we also look forward to continuing to work with the FAA after this rule is finalized as it considers what next steps to take. The economy, life safety, and national security all depend on the reliable delivery of electric power. We think UAS show unique potential for our sector and will be an eager partner with the FAA in working to craft rules which allow for their use. James P.
