On behalf of National Wildlife Federation, Natural Resources Defense Council, Conservation Law Foundation, Maine Audubon, Mass Audubon, Defenders of Wildlife, Oceana, we submit these comments on the Call for Information and Nominations by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) for the Commercial Leasing for Wind Power Development on the Gulf of Maine Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

Abstract

This call for information and nominations (Call or notice) invites public comment on, and assesses interest in, possible commercial wind energy leasing on the OCS in the Gulf of Maine. On August 19, 2022, BOEM initiated the competitive leasing process by issuing a Request for Interest (RFI) in Commercial Leasing for Wind Energy Development on the Gulf of Maine OCS requesting indications of interest and other information for BOEM to determine whether there is competitive interest for scheduling sales and issuing leases. This Call represents the next step in the competitive leasing process.
