The Clean Water Act protects crucial waterways that feed the drinking water sources for more than 117 million Americans and this proposal will eliminate federal protections for many waterways, potentially opening them up to industrial pollution and waste. Abstract

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of the Army (Army) are conducting a substantive re-evaluation and revision of the definition of “waters of the United States” in accordance with the February 2017 Executive Order.
